Economic Development Awards

Would you like to be one of those power customers who gets a special discounted utility rate? Luthin Associates is your contact for that connection. Since 2000, Luthin has secured economic development rates that saved over $150 million for our clients. Some programs provide benefits for up to 15 years, and may cut utility bills by 25%. Not every customer can obtain them, but you may be eligible.

Both for-profit businesses and non-profit institutions (e.g., hospitals) may qualify for one or more of the programs listed below. If your organization can commit to remaining in New York State, or adding jobs or new operations, and/or making significant local investments in their businesses, Luthin will analyze the potential savings and complete the paperwork needed to bring those savings to your bottom line.

Luthin has extensive experience with all of the following:

  • ReCharge NY Program (formerly Power for Jobs) offers discounted power from the New York Power Authority (NYPA)
  • Energy Cost Savings Program (ECSP) is available through the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC)
  • Business Incentive Rate (BIR) is co-administered by the NYCEDC and Consolidated Edison
  • Other specialized rates, such as the biomedical research incentive developed by Luthin Associates.

We know the right (and wrong) way to handle these agencies applications and submissions, and are familiar with their many qualifications and requirements. We have been involved as intervenors in the development and changes to those programs, providing us with an insider’s perspective that other consultants lack. Superior negotiation skills and long-term utility/agency relationships allow us to help our clients achieve favorable results. For customers seeking economic development benefits, we provide program administration services that manage their recurring filings. Using our proprietary rate engine, we recalculate bills to ensure that our clients receive the full awards to which they are entitled.
