Catherine Luthin’s position as a female entrepreneur has taught her the importance of sharing her knowledge with others. In a field dominated by males, she has successfully maintained a leadership position. To ensure that other women have similar opportunities, she commits much of her free time to actively supporting other women to advance and take on leadership roles.
To advocate for the M/WBE community, in 2010 she became Energy Policy Chairperson for the Council for Women in Energy and Environmental Leadership (CWEEL). Organized in 2006, CWEEL (a subsidiary of the professional Association of Energy Engineers) supports vocational development by mentoring aspiring women to pursue education and careers in the energy and environmental fields. Luthin Associates (LA) also “practices what it preaches” seeing as approximately 50% of LA staff are women.
Luthin Associates is certified as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE) through several organizations and state WBE programs, which include:
- Dormitory Authority State of New York (DASNY)
- State of New Jersey
- New York City School Construction Authority
- The New York State Department of Economic Development
- City of Philadelphia Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO)
- Port Authority of NY & NJ
- New York City Small Business Services
Luthin Associates is also certified as a WBE by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the nation’s largest third-party certifier of the businesses owned and operated by women in the U.S.
Aside from being WBE-Certified, Luthin Associates has been the recipient of Anchin’s Outstanding MWBE Award in 2012 and Outstanding Advocacy Award in 2013, based on our efforts to advocate for the MWBE community. Catherine has also received recognition on multiple occasions for her success as a female entrepreneur. She was among 16 women honored in 2014 as the Top Women in Commercial Real Estate, presented by industry publisher, Lori Sokol, President of Sokol Media. In 2015, she was acknowledged as a Top 25 Leading Woman Entrepreneur of New Jersey. Catherine was also among 40 powerhouse female business leaders in New Jersey to be recognized in SmartCEO’s Brava Awards program for 2017. In November 2017, Catherine was among 10 powerful women who are at the forefront of sustainability, and were honored at the gb&d’s fourth annual Women in Sustainability Leadership Awards.
Luthin Associates understands the importance of acknowledging the achievements of women, especially within the energy industry. As the industry grows, so does the number or female leaders eager to make their mark on changing the world for the better, through the advancement of sustainable strategies and energy efficient technologies. The power of women wanting to make such an impact is something to be celebrated and we are honored to have the opportunity to share these accomplishments.
